PROFESSIONAL
PSYCHOLOGY COURSE ACCREDITATION GUIDELINES
AUSTRALIA
The quality, standard and content of Australia's professional psychology courses is monitored and approved by the Australian Psychological Society. This group is responsible for assessing the standard of all applicants who apply to State Psychology Boards for a licence to practice. Research programs (Masters and PhD) are not accredited. Licensing of research and other academic psychologists is not required by law.
The Society is also responsible for assessing the standard of all internationally-trained psychologists who wish to migrate to and/or practice psychology in Australia. All assessors are fully qualified psychologists who have at least Membership status of the Australian Psychological Society.
